“Burning Wheel is now my favorite game system.” – Adam

    AWESOME!!!

    Dude, I love converts.

  • 2 Glenn // Jul 7, 2008 at 6:43 am

Bad link for Savage Worlds. It should be peginc, not pedinc.

    Will listen today! :)

  • 3 Psalm // Jul 7, 2008 at 7:43 am

Man, my favourite Americans have come together once again.

    Woooooo!

  • 4 Adam // Jul 7, 2008 at 7:57 am

Glenn, thanks for the update on the URL. I’ll have to beat Luke.

Jake, it’s awesome. Hands down my favorite.

Psalm, nice to see you again, man!

  • 5 Hussman // Jul 7, 2008 at 9:35 am

It’s funny how podcast vets need to find a rhythm when they start a new show. :) Not bad though. We’ll see what happens in a few episodes.

    Loves.

  • 6 Adam // Jul 7, 2008 at 9:41 am

    Huss-

Yeah. Skype is a fickle animal. Not having someone in the room makes it very hard to have a conversation with them. You miss out on a lot of physical clues that guide the conversation.

I’m sure you’re more than aware of that, though. ;)

I’m going to give Burning Wheel another go after listening to this podcast.

It’s nice to hear Adam and Luke together on the mics again.

    Good job, guys.

  • 8 Hussman // Jul 7, 2008 at 10:35 am

Adam… right on. Not to mention the “interuuption” factor. that really messes with things.

And Burning Wheel… I wonder if there are demos at Gen Con

  • 9 Luke // Jul 7, 2008 at 10:43 am

I can virtually gaurantee there will be demos at Gencon. Look for someone running “The Gift.” It will blow your mind.

  • 10 Stuart // Jul 7, 2008 at 11:09 am

Awesome to hear you guys doing a podcast together again — and about games again too.

Looking at gaming as an evolution of “powergamer” (rollplay) to “storyteller” (roleplay)… not as awesome. ;-D

  • 11 Luke // Jul 7, 2008 at 11:14 am

Yeah, Chris, our first two episodes, at least, are both going to be a little rough as we’re still working out the kinks.

I’ve always like the ‘no judging until your hit 5′ rule. :)

  • 12 Hussman // Jul 7, 2008 at 11:50 am

Agreed… you can’t judge a baby by the way it crawls… but you can laugh at it.

  • 13 Luke // Jul 7, 2008 at 12:28 pm

    Just don’t shake it.

  • 14 Mumblebear // Jul 7, 2008 at 12:49 pm

The intro and outro music: not so much.

Everything that happened in between: made of awesome!

You four seem to make an excellent team, and you can count me in as a listener for as long as you guys are having fun doing this. :)

  • 15 Luke // Jul 7, 2008 at 1:10 pm

    Dangit!

Too many people are voting against the best intro ever! Bathe in the campy awesomosity of it lest you give Joe enough leverage to make me change it!

    Bathe in it!

    ;)

  • 16 Joe // Jul 7, 2008 at 1:15 pm

Behold my crowbar of internet opinion! Jen’s opinion was “find a good rocking intro for a few seconds, tack on “the podgecast is here” (which we both really enjoy), and you’ll have a good intro.

  • 17 Luke // Jul 7, 2008 at 1:24 pm

I was actually working on a version that pretty much did just that, but editing music is tougher than I thought. We’ll see what I can whip up.

Man, I can’t wait until we have forums instead of this. Just a couple more weeks…

  • 18 Stuart // Jul 7, 2008 at 1:26 pm

I actually like the blog + comments. :)

  • 19 Luke // Jul 7, 2008 at 1:27 pm

It’s not bad (I’m loving WordPress), but it’s no forum either.

Fortunately, we will soon have both.

  • 20 Joe // Jul 7, 2008 at 1:34 pm

Luke said: I was actually working on a version that pretty much did just that.

Except your version probably still includes bad synth and screechy guitars. :P

  • 21 Jim Brown // Jul 7, 2008 at 1:55 pm

It’s not the campyness that’s the problem.

  • 22 Jake // Jul 7, 2008 at 2:26 pm

    @Jim: lol

@Luke: Yeah, it’s far, far too long. Despite its hilarity.

  • 23 Mumblebear // Jul 7, 2008 at 2:27 pm

As much as I hate to disagree with a real doctor, I’ve got to lean more toward Joe’s taste in music. I can’t speak to a lot of the genres he lists here and on his web page, but his taste in rock and metal seems up to spec.

Although I really did like the guitar riffs in the intro. It was just the synths and the vocals and basically everything but the guitar that I had a problem with. *grin*

Also, Skype or not, it’s damn good to get more of Matt in a podcast.

  • 24 Phil // Jul 7, 2008 at 3:27 pm

I like the intro, but now that I think of it, you should make it shorter. and maybe just have the full clip availible for iTunes downloading :P

  • 25 Walsfeo // Jul 7, 2008 at 3:38 pm

I was told to proceed to here (from a different post) in order to complain about the intro music. That music was like a test saying “If you can’t stand this amount of pain you aren’t worthy of the glory that lay within.”

If I hadn’t known the voices behind the podcast I wouldn’t have stuck around.

  • 26 Walsfeo // Jul 7, 2008 at 3:42 pm

I forgot to mention, I am glad I stuck around for the show. Well done one and all.

  • 27 Luke // Jul 7, 2008 at 3:58 pm

Boooo! You guys don’t know from fun!

    :P

I’ve already got a drastically shortened version for next time. Your precious ears will be saved. ;)

  • 28 Rich // Jul 7, 2008 at 4:38 pm

Great episode guys! Great to open the actual episode with an all too familiar “Wooo!” I am really looking forward to more shows!

  • 29 Jennifer // Jul 7, 2008 at 5:09 pm

Yay! My three favorite men, all in one glorious podcast! …Along with one guy I don’t know. :P

  • 30 Perfect Bebop // Jul 7, 2008 at 5:09 pm

Awesome stuff guys, and . I’m not opposed to the intro (love the singing), though it does remind me of revenge of the Nerds. Looking forward to the next one and the forums!

Joe, would love to buy you a beer if you ever find yourself in the big city of Manchester, or if I’m down in Na-show-a.

  • 31 Jake // Jul 7, 2008 at 6:49 pm

Add one to the list of reasons why I want to move to St. Louis.

  • 32 Glenn // Jul 7, 2008 at 8:23 pm

Good episode! A little rambly towards the beginning, but just an observation.. not a judge. :)

  • 33 Adam // Jul 8, 2008 at 7:01 am

    @Jennifer
“Yay! My three favorite men, all in one glorious podcast! …Along with one guy I don’t know”

    OMG! I’m that stranger!

  • 34 Joe // Jul 8, 2008 at 7:24 am

And let me tell you, they don’t get any stranger! :P

  • 35 rmckee78 // Jul 8, 2008 at 9:20 am

    Fun show.
I, for one, enjoyed the theme song, but the synths are a bit annoying.
I think you guys have a good mix of hosts (what a shock) and are starting out with a realistic range of subjects available to you.
I can’t wait for more sandbox gaming episodes as this is my prefered style of play. Glad to hear the campaign length argument is ongoing.

  • 36 Joe // Jul 8, 2008 at 10:40 am

The campaign length argument will continue until Luke concedes that I am right. :D

  • 37 Chaoz // Jul 8, 2008 at 9:06 pm

So I may be watching, or listening as it may be.

  • 38 Lumrunner // Jul 8, 2008 at 10:50 pm

Okay, I guess I’m following you guys over here. Good to see you on a new show! Itunes is now set!

  • 39 Natz // Jul 9, 2008 at 4:56 am

I remember hearing something someone said that I thought they didn’t have quite right. But I forgot it between listening to the podcast and posting a comment.

    Great podcast.

  • 40 Dustin S. // Jul 9, 2008 at 7:58 am

As regards to the intro song, i never thought my eyes could bleed while listening to a song. :)

i have already listened to the show like 5 times and i only found it last night.

its good hear Adam and Luke back on the same podcast.

i was never active on the FtB side but maybe i will be more active with this show.

    loved the show

  • 41 Adam // Jul 9, 2008 at 8:13 am

Wow, Rich, Chaoz, Dustin! Long time no talk guys! We’ll have to rectify that.

Natz, Lumrunner – I don’t know you guys as well as I do them, but stop by the forums! We’ll hang!
