Hey guys, fun episode. I sincerely hope there were copious amounts of alcohol involved, because if you came up with those ideas sober you all need help ;-)

Here’s a bit of vocabulary, at least as I’ve always understood it:

Speculative Fiction: Anything with any hint of science fiction or fantasy. Lord of the Rings, Battlestar Galactica, Mork & Mindy, even most James Bond films – all speculative ficion.

Alternate History: Any story set on Earth but with some historical change, whether it’s set in the “modern day” or the “past.” Watchmen is an alternate history, and it was an alternate history in 1985 when it was written. Because, you know, the history is an alternative to our history. Then again, technically, any mainstream superhero comic is an alternate history.

Oh, and the plural of “ninja” is “ninja.” Japanese doesn’t have a plural form for anything. (Which means, I guess, that the plural of “futon” would be “futon,” too.)

Nein mein freunden. Science Fiction is Science Fiction. Adam’s description of SpecFic is correct. Speculative Fiction can be called “What if” fiction.

This episode made me think of the Superman graphic novel, Red Son. The premise being that when Superman first lands on earth as a baby he ends up in Russia instead of Kansas. Superman ends up being a communist instead of the paragon of the American dream. I’m not even sure if the Selby Force 5 would be able to handle this.

[...] what other tricks do you have to get the most out of your time?  Short of employing a squad of Selby clones, I’m not sure what  else I can [...]

Episode started out great and helpful but around the half hour mak it became to silly to listen too anymore.

The pluaral of ninja is ninja or ninjas. Either is correct.
