Joe, are you sure you’re not talking about A. E. Van Vogt instead of Vonnegut? Specifically “The World of Null-A”?

I don’t think I’ve read any Van Vogt, but it was 14 years ago, so I couldn’t be sure (the title doesn’t sound like something I would have read in catholic school, though).

Okies, so I’ve been going back through the episodes for the contest, and I have no idea what happened in what episode anymore.
Musicals are great – any of you seen Repo?
A Study in Emerald – great recommendation. Even better that it’s a free pdf.
Did the Selby Force 5 ever meet up in a game?

The book about orcs that Matt was talking about is “Grunts” by Mary Gentle. The orcs start out as fairly typical (if a bit cleverer than usual) orcs and wind up slowly turning into modern marines thanks to a cursed extradimensional treasure.
