TPC is Nominated for a Parsec Award!

June 25th, 2009 · 5 Comments

The Parsec Awards are dedicated to rewarding excellence in various aspects of Speculative Fiction Podcasting. Founded by Mur Lafferty, Michael R. Mennenga, and Tracy Hickman, the list of available categories includes Best Gaming Podcast, for which the PodgeCast has been nominated.

Podcast shows are nominated by fans, and finalists are chosen by a yearly steering committee. Those finalists are then voted on by an independent panel of judges from outside of podcasting. As part of the process, we had to submit a sample of our show during the eligible period (for us, that was episodes 1 through 39). If you’d like to hear more about the Parsecs, you can listen to their promo.

We hope you can join us at Dragon*Con when we claim our Best Podcast trophy (either from the Parsec people or the chump who wins when his back is turned—we could use the extra muscle). Wish us luck!

Episode 046: BATTLECAST 3!

June 22nd, 2009 · 5 Comments

* Welcome to the Battlecast!

* After the hilarity of getting everything together, we finally get underway to try and determine which is the funniest television series of all time. The winner will surprise you… or probably won’t.

* The video is forthcoming. I was seriously going to have it available early, but ran out of time. Maybe I’ll get to it tomorrow.

* I marked the episode as explicit, since David drops the F*bomb a few times. What an ass.

Jack Staff: Yesterday’s Heroes written and drawn by Paul Grist

The world of Jack Staff is one of super-heroes, vampires, reports, and maverick cops. Named Maveryk. This collection of the first four indy press issues takes Britain’s greatest hero, Jack Staff, from a fight in the 1940s alongside the Freedom Fighters to a series of vampire attacks in the modern day.

This collection presents the first issues of one of the best—and sometimes oddest—super-hero books on the stands. While this edition is now out of print, it is collected as part of Image’s Jack Staff: Everything Used to be Black and White. Still theres something enjoyable about lucking into earlier editions. But whatever collected version or single issues, Jack Staff is one of best and most enjoyable comics out there.
