I’m really digging these campaign recaps. No one wants to get stuck in a room for 2 hours with the guy talking about the shit his character did as if he had done it in real life. But it’s also nice to get some real examples of gaming in action.

Hey guys, just finished the episode and thought I’d drop in and tell you that I love the show, and I’m really digging these campaign recaps. I know you’re not big into the gaming story thing, but done this way it’s actually pretty neat and even useful. As someone who’s been a GM for his entire time gaming you don’t often get to see what other groups are like and how they do it. This sort of thing gives you a glimpse into other styles and it’s really pretty cool.

13 dice open ended? What does that mean, open ended?

That means if you roll the maximum value on that die (e.g., a 6 on a d6) you roll again. If you max out again, you roll again, and so on until you don’t roll the maximum.

Thanks Joe! I haven’t been introduced to the system before and appreciate the explanation.

It’s a feature in a few systems and each of them use different names for it: explode, penetrate, etc. My players in my Savage Worlds game have a wicked habit of rolling max on their dice. They’re far too capable for low-level characters.
