Introducing: Feedback Fridays!

March 23rd, 2012 · David · 12 Comments

So, back here at Podge Cast HQ, the flaws of the show have become a running joke both behind the scenes and around the mics. For the most part, the hosts are analytic, reasonable people (I said for the most part) and so the identification of which specific flaws to focus our efforts on fixing to produce a strong show is the first step we have to take.

So, to that end, we’ve decided to implement Feedback Fridays!, your chance to give direct and honest feedback for us to draw some conclusions from.

So, without further ado:

What was your favorite TPC episode and why?

The show about interviewing with Jenn and Clyde is by far my favorite. It was funny, entertaining, and educational. It not only talked about interviewing but how to look at interviews with a more discerning eye.

TPC 173:Mack Attack! The discussion about hacking games was great. You guys have had some similar talks before (Smallville for Avatar), but that one gave me some good ideas.

I think the episodes I enjoy the best have a nice combination of joking (and good-natured villainy) and some gaming talk, and I think the gaming stuff works best when you guys tell us about what you like and why.

I’m still listening after 184 episodes, so you guys are doing something right. Keep up the great work.

I can’t point to a favorite episode at the moment, but I have been listening from the beginning so… hard to pick just one out of 177 episodes. Now I can say that lately I have been asking myself why I keep listening. It just seems like each episode has become an exercise where Paul relates everything to Burning Wheel, Adam acts disinterested, and Luke says something no one cares about. Oh and everyone shits on Eric. I think the Podge has lost its sparkle. I am still listening, but I still don’t know why.

Don’t forget the period of time when I related everything to Fate and that pissed Adam off because he hates Fate and doesn’t know how it’s played.

My favorite episode is either TPC 152: The Podge Cast or 130: So Many Emotions, because the closer any Podgecast comes to being an episode of the Mancast the better.

As far as gaming advice is concerned, I can’t point out specific episodes (other than the Campaign Recaps) but the personal anecdotes of how certain situations were dealt with (such as Phil’s KTNG character being a maniac ) are the most interesting to me personally.

In conclusion, in order from least to greatest my reasons for coming back to the Podge week after week are: Eric getting angry, Paul’s great taste in anime, David and Luke antagonizing each other, and Matt.

I liked the episodes where you summarized the Burning Wheel games. It was fun to hear how you dealt with the weird stuff that came up, both in rule mechanics and story twists.

I like Luke. I like his advice and the stuff he has to say but I”m sorry that end song needs to go. it was funny at first but its old. I have gone months with out listening because I do not have the time to modify it in iTunes so I do not have to hear it.

my favorite shows are the ones you talk about a lot of little things. Maybe a little bigger topic at the end.

what i don’t like are shows dedicated to one topic. I like Game of Thrones but I don’t want to listen to an entire episode about it.

but that is just what i enjoy form the cast

Luke and Eric are awesome. My favorite episodes are campaign recaps. And I love the theme song, keep it.

TPC 087: Dangerous Misuse of Technology
Fantastic, funny and I like the discussion of Magic logistics. There was another episode that I liked even more but I can’t seem to find in without listening to every single one over again. Maybe I’ll find it again, and I’ll make a second comment.

I rewind and listen to the closing song twice every episode: keep it. Although a dubstep version could be entertaining; perhaps a long remix for a day you’re searching for a topic.

I find that the addition of David is a pox on this show, Adam was basically a saint incarnate, but this new David asshole is just terrible. My favorite is the episode before that change.

Whoever says that the outro music needs to go is the wrongest. I like the “new” intro music, but I still love the original song.

I don’t have a favorite episode, but I like when you guys talk about your experiences of play, or when you talk industry stuff (“WTF does it mean that Wizards said this?”). I could listen to speculating on industry gossip all day.

To the person who stopped listening because of the music: it’s the end of the episode. Just hit stop.
