Really enjoyed this episode. As a wanna-be game designer myself with lots of fledgling ideas, hearing about going through the design and playtest process is really awesome.

Looking forward to owning my own copy of IT sometime in the future.

Luke, you're geek for your own profession and I must brofist you for that.

*RESPEK NUKKLES*

In other news; Matt Smith's episodes are the only Doctor Who I've seen anything of... and everybody hates him. But it's the best TV I've watched since Life on Mars UK...

Goddamn I've gotta get the Eccleston and Tennant series; clearly I've been missing out on total awesomeness.

Yeah, but when I was doing some CBA, I didn't see anywhere I could just plug numbers in and get quote. They required an actual document and all that jazz.

Will likely revisit when I have the finished pdf in my hands.

Yes lulu is the consumer arm of LS, but the good news is that LS prices for small publishers is supposed to be better. They also have bulk discounts at 50, 100, et cetrea.

Lightning Source and Lulu are the same printer, really. Using Lulu's estimator, you can get decent prices.

I haven't yet been able to price through LS, because I don't have any specifics on what the pdf is going to look like yet.

Sounds like our plan. I was told that lightning source can be reasonable if you set yourself up as a small publisher. I haven't gotten around to it yet, but that is our current approach.

Right now we're going to stick to small print runs though POD is still on the table. It'll be black and white because, as you mention, the price is high enough on small print runs that we'd have to charge way too much.

Thanks Luke. I am currently testing my game Free Spacer and I've looked at a couple printing options. It sounded like you weren't doing PoD, What are you doing for printing? Are you going colour? We found colour expensive and offset only worth it after a couple thousand.

If I'd had an N-Gage, I would have bought it. Turn-based RPG + gonzo RIFTS world? I would have been all over it.

Strangely enough, I was actually a designer on the Rifts: Promise of Power for the Nokia NGage and Kevin Siembieda signed my game. It was actually pretty good, for the NGage. We even invented a mini-Glitterboy in an attempt to balance the game.
