So Luke (and other guy; can never remember non-Luke non-David non-Matt hosts), tell us: what about Warhammer is worth dealing with GW’s release schedule and “army book” format BS? I don’t mean to sound antagonistic! I love GW’s models, but was out of 40k within three months of getting in, as I thought the game was pretty poorly designed and the company’s model in general so bizarre that it wasn’t worth putting up with. I play Warmachine now, which is why I’m intrigued by your WH experiences, as Luke used to play WM, no? Thanks!

Wamachine/Hordes is still my favorite minis game, though I no longer play. I stopped playing before the new edition and just got behind. Feels like it would take forever to take back up.
GW’s rules are a lot looser and a lot less balanced than Privateer Press’s. This is less of an issue in WFB than 40K (where there is huge power creep) so I don’t mind it. I really like what they’ve done with 8th edition WFB, as I mentioned. Still super-pricey, but it’s s luxury.
What makes it worth it? Well, it’s a fun game. It looks gorgeous on the table, and I’ve always love the setting. Fun game, big community, cool stories to tell…I dig that stuff.
